this barrel is easy to build, compact, and low-maintenence.it is used by members of the kibera productive public space cooperative to safely dispose of their organic waste(which by the way, accounts for 80% of all waste produced in kibera). the organic goods are added to the barrel daily and after several weeks and a lot of aerobic action, yesterday's waste becomes today's organic fertilizer. the members of the cooperative then sell this fertilizer to the small-scale farmers in nairobi through a pre-established link we've created and the money earned is used to pay for the maintenance of the community ammenities the cooperative members share including: composting toilet blocks, playspaces, + water disinfection stations.in short, 30 dollars cleans up the environment, generates revenue, improves public health, creates jobs, and maintains much needed community ammenities. NOW THAT'S A DEAL!
