About the RoleWe are seeking a Finance Coordinator (Accountant) to support our growing portfolio of community-driven infrastructure projects in Kenya. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, motivated professional who is eager to deepen their financial skills while contributing to impactful, community-driven projects.You’ll work closely with our finance and project teams in Nairobi, and coordinate with our international offices in Los Angeles and Stockholm as needed. The role reports to the Kenya Finance Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day procurement, ensuring compliance with KDI and donor procedures.
- Process supplier payments and verify all supporting documentation and approvals.
- Record transactions in QuickBooks and maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records.
- Assist in monthly bank reconciliations, petty cash management, and oversee expense records.
- Maintain organised physical and digital filing systems for financial documentation.
- Review payment requests and expenditures to ensure compliance with KDI, donor, and statutory policies.
- Maintain and update the Invoicing schedule.
- Contribute to the preparation of project budgets, annual budgets, and donor financial reports.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan statutory requirements (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, VAT, etc.).
- Assist in providing clear guidance to staff on financial and compliance procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Finance and Administration Director.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.CPA(K) or ACCA finalist.
- Proficient in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software).
- Proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel,Word, PowerPoint and other office applications).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Experience in a non-profit or donor-funded environment is a plus.
This is a 6-month contract position based in Nairobi, with the potential for extension depending on funding availability, performance and organisational needs.
